Featured in our Del Mar Ballet Gallery is a collection of dance paintings by the British artist, Juliette Milner. Art critics call her “the new Degas”. This is a new form of expressionist art inspired by collaborations with dancers and choreographers in San Diego, London, and New York. Recent solo exhibitions include The Mandell Weiss Gallery, Galleries on Cedros, Rancho Valencia, RSF and BASIC, downtown, San Diego.

Juliette Milner's formal education is in architecture, and has played on the border of dance and architecture since 1996. Her first collaboration was for the Design Museum, London with choreographer, Bunty Matthias and rapper, Jazzie B. She has worked on projects ranging from theoretical urban planning using narratives to a number of award winning performing arts buildings in association with Ove Arup & Ptrs.

In 2000, Juliette was invited to teach design studios on the Master’s Architecture program at Sci-Arc, Los Angeles, and since then has been a critic and associate professor for universities, including Woodbury, the New School of Architecture, and USD. She collaborated with digital visual artists at the UCSD Experimental Game Lab to develop ideas for new theatre design 'genotypes’. She collaborates with various artists, including sculptors, digital filmakers and fashion designers. Her work with fashion designer, Hussein Chalayan was featured in London Fashion Week, Vogue, Elle and iD. mSince 2012, Juliette has directed a series of innovative non-profit art & design studios for over 200 children in Del Mar and is about to launch two new art studio programs for 2015-2016.

Currently in her own studio she is open to accepting new commissions for paintings of dancers.
